Alumni Relations

Donate to the Fraternity!

Dear Alumni Brothers,

I come to you in hopes of improving the Penn State Chapter of Pi Lamdbda Phi Fraternity, both the Undergraduate and the Alumni.  We've overcome many challenges throughout our history and I am proud to say that we now have the opportunity to build onto our success.

Currently there are 49 undergraduate brothers, 32 of which are living in the house this fall semester.  In addition, they are expecting a solid pledge class this semester.  This past year we placed 5th in the Fall Homecoming competition and 5th in overall Greek Athletics.  We've manage to raise over $43,000 for THON (a benefit for children with cancer) with Omega Phi Alpha Sorority and have been involved in sever other philanthropies around campus.

The chapter is as solid as its ever been - and with your help, we can do so much more.

As alumni, we still have a responsibility to our chapter.  With all the memories, the people we've met, and experiences it facilitated, it is nearly impossible to just forget about Pi Lam.  Please sign up for a small monthly donation, it might not seem like a lot, but in numbers we will be able to accomplish amazing things,  If you'd like to donate to a specific cause in addition to the monthly donation, we also have current items that the chapter house needs

I look forward to all we can accomplish together. And I especially look forward to seeing many of you at the games and more importantly our house.

MONTHLY ALUMNI DONATIONS

One major way you can help is to sign on for a monthly donation. The organization needs a steady cashflow and your $10 a month could make a big difference.

Half of the money will go straight to the immediate needs of the undergraduates. This could be things like a new TV, new furniture, dining tables, etc. The undergraduates will also provide updates on what their projects are for the year and how you can be involved in them!

The other half will go directly to the Alumni Association and what their needs are. This is more of a long term goal.  The money will go towards things like a rainy day fund, such as our recent need to replace the furnace, towards paying the mortgage off early, organizing alumni reunions, and maybe a longer term goal of building an expansion onto the house.

This will be a subscrption of just $10 a month.  If you are feeling more generous please by all means look to donate to our specific causes, or even suggest some you'd like to see in the house.

DONATE TO A SPECIFIC CAUSE

We have certain things on our plate that we are looking to raise money for right now.

New Furnace -currently this is our biggest need.  Our current boiler is over 20 years old and combined with hard water has come to the end of it's life.  We have Stan Bierly, a fellow alumni, whose family business is HVAC providing us with a quote of $15,185 to replace with two smaller but more efficient boilers that in the case of one failing - we'll be able to prevent the pipes from freezing in the winter weather.  He has graciously offered to cut much of his profit bringing his quote down $1800 to only $13,385. This is the number we need to raise.

Replace the Front Door  - Our front door is a custom door for Pi Lambda Phi.  It is a staple in our house and we would like to be able to have this symbol of our chapter for as long as we occupy these premesis.  We need to raise $xxxx.xx for a new custom made door to fill its place.

Water softener - Hard water is a culprit to blame for the deterioration of the boiler and other water related parts of the house.

Rainy Day Fund - It is important to have cash on hand in the event something happens, such as repairs to our structure and mortgage payments in case the chapter were to come into unexpected hard time.

*For large donations please send a check to the Alumni President.  This will help us avert the 3% credit card processing fee and make sure as much of the money as possible goes towards Pi Lambda Phi.

*Make checks payable to Omega Gamma Inc.  (the housing corporation and alumni association for the fraternity)

To The Alumni:

Pi Lam Alumni,

One of the reason we set up this site so to create an easy way for all of you to communicate with the undergrads as well as each other. We hope this website will greatly strengthen our fraternity.

For it to work, we will need involvement from all of you. All you have to do is sign on and create a profile. This will allow you to take full advantage of all the features of this website, such as personal photo galleries, viewing other alumni contact information and the forum.

So take a moment of your time and sign on.

Also, Please scroll down to see some of the things the house needs donations for and how you can help.
